Tzedakah (charitable giving) holds deep significance in Orthodox and Chassidish Jewish life. To better understand how often community members are asked to contribute, Mispar surveyed its exclusive panel to measure the frequency of charity campaign solicitations.

Methodology
We surveyed 197 members of Mispar’s exclusive panel of Orthodox and Chassidish Jewish Americans. All respondents were over the age of 18 and English-speaking. Participants were asked: How many online charity campaigns do you get asked to contribute to per month? with response options ranging from “zero” to “5 or more”.

Recruitment Strategy
Participants were recruited from Mispar’s proprietary panel, which is composed exclusively of Orthodox and Chassidish American Jews. Respondents received panel points redeemable for a Visa gift card as appreciation for their time.

Findings

  • Nearly all respondents (97%) reported having been asked to contribute to a charity campaign at least once a month.
  • More than half of respondents (62%) were asked to give charity three or more times per month.

These findings illustrate the high frequency of donation requests within the frum community, highlighting both the strong culture of charitable giving and the level of competition among campaign fundraisers. While only a small segment reported receiving no monthly requests, the majority are approached multiple times each month, underscoring the importance of understanding solicitation patterns when planning effective campaigns.
