Mispar Survey: Orthodox and Chassidish New Yorkers Worry About Anti-Semitism in Mayoral Election

There is significant concern within the Jewish community regarding the prospect of Zohran Mamdani becoming mayor of New York. He has previously made hostile, anti-Semitic remarks and has raised questions about his ability to ensure public safety for Jewish residents. More details can be found here: NY Post article.

We conducted a poll of New York–based Chassidish and Orthodox community members from our exclusive research panel (n = 123) ahead of the mayoral election to gauge how concerned they are about the mayoral election, their candidate preferences, and the issues most influencing their votes.

Among respondents, 92% reported being “very concerned” or “somewhat concerned” about the possibility of Mamdani winning the mayoral election. In this sample, the majority (65%) indicated they plan to vote for Andrew Cuomo, 13% were undecided or do not plan to vote, and no respondents reported intending to vote for Mamdani.

Among those planning to vote, concern about anti-Semitism in New York emerged as the most important issue influencing their decision in tomorrow’s mayoral election.
