🇺🇸🇮🇱 New Data: How Orthodox Jewish Americans View the U.S.–Israel Strikes Against Iran

In March 2026, we surveyed 218 Orthodox Jewish Americans to better understand how our community is thinking, feeling, and responding to the U.S.–Israel strikes against Iran.

We found that 84% of respondents are closely following news about the conflict, reflecting a highly engaged community. At the same time, support for military action is notably strong. An overwhelming 87% expressed support for U.S. strikes against Iran, a level far higher than what is seen in national surveys. For context, a recent Ipsos poll found that just 29% of Americans approve of the strikes, indicating that support in our sample is roughly three times higher.

When asked about the justification for the strikes, most respondents, 81%, believe the U.S. strikes against Iran were justified. At the same time, perspectives vary across groups, with women and liberals less likely to view the strikes as justified.

Interestingly, 60% of respondents believe Iran posed an imminent threat to the United States, which is 21 percentage points lower than overall support for the strikes. This gap suggests that support is influenced by more than concerns about U.S. security, with concern for Israel’s safety likely playing a meaningful role.

A strong sense of connection to Israel also emerged. Nearly all respondents, 97%, reported taking some form of action in response to the situation, most commonly praying for Israel, cited by 84%. Together, these findings point to a community that feels deeply invested and personally connected to what is unfolding in the Middle East.
